This past summer, day camp was enriched in ways we couldn’t have anticipated—thanks to the joy of providing 896 Camp Bibles to Child Evangelism Fellowship Ontario. CEF Ontario provided the Bibles to children enrolled in day camps, vacation bible clubs, 5-day clubs, and backyard bible clubs.
The excitement that filled the air when church leaders and volunteers handed out these beautiful books was palpable. Creating lasting memories for both the campers and leaders.
One of the most touching moments came when Calvary Baptist Church had the privilege of giving Bibles to two children who had recently accepted Jesus as their Savior. One was a young boy, only 11 years old, and the other was a Catholic child. Their faces lit up with pure delight as they held their new Bibles, eagerly looking forward to taking them home. For them, these were not just books; they were treasures to cherish and explore.
“Thank you so much, I have never had my own Bible.”
Throughout the camps, CEF Ontario was amazed at how many children eagerly requested their own Bibles. “Please show me where the verses are in the Bible,” one child asked, wide-eyed with curiosity. Another exclaimed, “Can I have my own Bible? Wow, that’s cool!” The most heartwarming was when a child said, “Thank you so much, I have never had my own Bible.”
These simple words reflected a profound sense of gratitude and wonder that reminded us of the importance of nurturing faith from a young age.
One standout moment involved a little boy in grade 3. A leader from Chelsea Community Church had been sharing Jesus with his mom for 15 years, but she had yet to make a decision to attend church or embrace her faith. However, this young boy was overflowing with excitement as he received his free Bible. He couldn’t believe that it was given to him at no cost. He insisted on taking it home so his mom could read it to him. This moment held the promise of potential spiritual growth not just for him but for his family as well.
These experiences served as a beautiful reminder of how the simple act of providing a Bible can open hearts and create opportunities for spiritual exploration. Each Bible handed out was a seed planted, with the potential to grow in ways we can only imagine.
As we reflect on this summer, we are filled with gratitude for the chance to share the love of Jesus through His Word. We look forward to seeing how these children will continue their journeys of faith. We are excited to witness the impact that having their own Bibles will have on their lives.
Each child who walked away with a Bible left with more than just a book—they left with a piece of hope and a path to discovering the incredible love that awaits them.
Thank you to Canadian Bible Society who supported this initiative, making it possible to touch the lives of so many young hearts.
Let’s continue to inspire curiosity, foster understanding, and nurture faith in the next generation.
