Manga Messiah in Prison Ministry

From Japan to Canada – the impact of Manga Messiah in Canadian Prisons

Converge Canada is so excited to be a part of bringing Manga Messiah to Canada to bless Canadian inmates as they become students with the New Life Prison Ministry Bible Correspondence Course.

A key component of the Partnership between Converge Canada and New Life Prison Ministry is the support to provide Manga Messiah (Resource Bible) for the Manga Bible Course. When New Life Prison Ministry is in need, they reach out to Converge Canada who is able locate, order and ship the Resource Bibles directly to New Life Ministry.

Recently, we were very thankful to assist in coordinating a new order. This Resource Bibles travels from Japan – where it is published and printed – and arrives in London Ontario for their use.

385 Manga Messiah Books sent out!

Last month, there was a waiting list for this Resource Bible in various prisons across Canada for students that participate in this Manga Bible Course. We were so excited that upon arrival in London, 384 Manga Messiah books were sent out to eagerly awaiting students.

There are 6 lessons that accompany this resource book for students to work through. They complete the course material using the Manga Messiah Book and mail it to New Life Prison Ministry. Upon arrival the material is assigned to a mentor. A volunteer who will mark the material and write a correspondence letter to the student. Through this interaction, the student can receive encouragement, spiritual direction, receive answers to their questions, and begin to develop a friendship through corresponding with a trained and equipped ministry mentor.

“Manga taught me that Jesus can help me with my addictions. I am tired of letting my family down and I want to be healed. I hope Jesus can help me.” New Life Prison Ministry Student, March 2024

New Life Prison Ministry has seen an increase of interest for this program as the Manga Messiah is designed in Japanese anime that uses simpler language to share the gospel story and the ultimate love story of Jesus and His redemptive power.

“Thank you for this book, it helped me understand the Bible and Jesus better. I am bringing this home for my family, I want them to understand this stuff too and I think they we love it.” Manny – student May 2024

Students are being transformed through this bible course. It is our hope to continue to support New Life Prison Ministry by providing the Manga Messiah Resource Bibles. To learn more visit New Life Prison Ministry website.
