Converge Canada is passionate about building Christian leaders in Canada. This is one of our foundational values and a core part of the ministry programs that make up our partnerships with Canadian organizations.
Training leaders and discipling the next generation for leadership within our Canadian organizations is one way that will lead to the building of God’s Kingdom here in Canada. We are very thankful to Partner with Scripture Union Canada who also shares this value.
Summer Sports Camps with Scripture Union
SU Camps are easy to run. They are a great way to reach a new demographic of children. They provide all that is needed for one week of solid programming that connects children with the church, Jesus and the Word.
A key element to the success of these sports camps are their Coaches. This summer, a team of 14 Coaches will run camp at 27 Church locations in Ontario.
Every summer kicks off with a few weeks of in-office training. This is a time for interns to prepare for camp practically, spiritually and socially. Team building is huge. There are training sessions like how to run a session, how to share the Gospel and SU Camp traditions. This training not only equips the Coaches for their role with Summer Camp, but equips them as Christian Leaders for their future, resulting in more trained and skilled leaders for Ministry in Canada.
Trusting in God’s Plan
“Don’t worry about anything instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Maddy Moore – Scripture Union Inclusion Coordinator shares this:
“Thinking about this summer, I had it on my heart to be a part of a kid’s ministries but I had no idea where I would end up. When the opportunity came up to be the Inclusion Coordinator at Scripture Union, I knew very clearly God was telling me to apply. Quitting my job at the daycare, to be a part of summer camp was a huge step of faith but I knew that God had something bigger planned for this summer. As the Inclusion Coordinator, my role is to put opportunities in place during the sports camps to come alongside those kids with disabilities and those that need some extra support. My goal is to help all children have a positive and fun experience at camp. Making sure children feel included and purposed in all the activities. Every day we have an opportunity to start our mornings off with a group devotional. This has been an amazing way to focus our minds and hearts on God’s direction for the day to come!”
We are very thankful for leaders like Maddy and know that God is going to use Maddy for great impact in the lives of children this summer.
Who do you know?
Do you know of an organization who is doing this? Running a Weekly Children’s Program, planning for Vacation Bible School, Overnight or Day Camp Ministry? We want to talk to them.
